About

PersonalStartup.com is a blog about my experiences and ideas for running my life as a business. I am 24 years old. I have a young family; a wife and a one-year-old daughter. I work in the marketing division of a large software corporation. Although I enjoy my work, I am passionate about becoming financially independent and owning my own business someday. I am a proponent of the Austrian school of economics. I believe in core free market principles.

It’s important to note that I loathe the self-help finance industry..I despise the seminars and the myriad snake oil ”plans” for wealth, success and happiness. I am of the mind that no seminar, book or plan will will make me financially successful. It’s about hard work, saving and investing prudently, and living cheap. After studying business management and finance in college, I have an appreciation and respect for the sound principles that make companies successful over the long-term. These same principles can and should be applied to our personal lives.

It’s not glamorous and it’s not for the impatient. But applying time-tested business management techniques to your personal life will yield much greater financial returns and sustainable wealth over the long-term than the latest get-rich-quick scam. Using my Personal Startup method, I plan on achieving financial independence (where cashflow from my assets pays for my lifestyle) within ten years. All of my thoughts, ideas and actions to that end will be recorded here. I hope you find it useful!
